Hennie Louw, Investment Manager
Hennie joined HBD in January 2008 where he holds the position of investment manager. In his role Hennie is responsible for various financial and legal aspects of the HBD investment portfolio. Hennie is also part of HBD's investment team and is a non-executive director on a number of HBD's investments.
A qualified Chartered Accountant, Hennie completed his articles in 1994 with Deloittes. After completing his articles Hennie joined the University of the Western Cape (UWC) as a lecturer in auditing. After 2 years at UWC, Hennie entered the corporate arena where he initially kicked off his career as Financial Director of Hospiplan, a group that owned and managed several private hospitals in Southern Africa. Hennie was closely involved in listing the group on the JSE and later on selling it to the Medi-Clinic group. In 1998 Hennie joined the Educor Group (a Naspers owned private education company) as Financial Director of one of the group subsidiaries until eventually taking up the role of Group Managing Director in 2004. In his role at Educor Hennie earned valuable experience in deal-making, valuations and mergers and acquisitions. Hennie also served on the boards of several group companies in his tenure at Educor, including Damelin, INTEC College and University of Stellenbosch Business School - Executive Development. He also served on the Exco of Media 24 from 2004 till 2007.
Hennie is married to Sanet, a psychologist, and has two children, Beneta and Nico. His hobbies include golf, mountain biking and yoga.
